Halifax declares the DONAIR it's Official Food.

One of the greatest treats for visitors and locals alike, are Halifax's famous DONAIRS.  This mouthwatering treat is enjoyed regularly in Halifax and can be found, in a wide variety of forms, at dozens of local restaurants, pubs and eateries as well as in "home-made" recipes.

Typically, the DONAIR is enjoyed in it's traditional form.  Pita wrapped donair meat, donair sauce, topped with mozzerella cheese and optional tomatoes and onion.  In recent years, Haligonians have been introduced to limitless variations of the Traditional Donair.  You can enjoy, Donair Pizza, Donair Subs, Donair Eggrolls, Donair Poutine, Donair-zerotti, Mini Donair-zerotti Rolls, Donair Casserole, Donair Burgers, Donair Meatloaf, Donair Kebob, Donair Pogo, and recently, even Donair Gelato!
